Expect an email newsletter from me each Wednesday morning. We’ll be talking about topics in composition, music theory, and musicology; all of them designed to help you find your distinct voice as a musician through deepening your understanding of music.

In the meantime, you can check out the newsletter archive to get caught up.

Each newsletter will have a main idea, as well as some other features that will rotate in and out. Maybe it’s a playlist of new music I’ve been listening to, or a composition technique I’ve learned recently. Perhaps it’s a 100-word score analysis of a song or piece, or a behind the scenes look at what I’ve been working on. I’ll have a curated list of the content that I’ve released recently, so you don’t have to worry about missing any of it. I also like to compile resource recommendations for you each week.

Each newsletter will also have email subscriber exclusive discounts. Speaking of which, you can get your first purchase on my website at 20% off by using the code WELCOME20 at checkout. That applies to any order - whether it be sheet music, digital resources, an online course, or joining the membership community. Even if you put all of those things in the cart at once, all of it is 20% off your first order.

Hey, I’m Jesse. It’s nice to meet you.

I’m a composer, music theorist, and musicologist. For some people, these are three very different subjects, but for me, they all three serve the exact same purpose: to help me create better music. That’s why I created the Double Bar Newsletter - to help you do the same.

If we haven’t met before, you might be interested in seeing some of the work that I’ve done in these fields. You can check out my music either at Spotify, or in my Music Catalog - you can also check out my Composition YouTube Channel. For my work in music theory and music theory education, check out the Two Minute Music Theory YouTube Channel.
